Feeling Numb, Empty or Just Not Yourself?

You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support. If something feels off and has for a while, you're in the right place.

Do You Feel Like You Are Just Going Through the Motions?

You do not have to be in crisis to deserve support. If something feels off and has felt that way for a while, you are in the right place. We offer therapy for depression and low mood in Vaughan and virtually across Ontario.

Do you feel numb more than you feel sad?

People often expect depression to look like crying every day or being unable to get out of bed. But for many people, it is quieter than that. It is waking up and feeling nothing. It is going through your day on autopilot, doing everything you are supposed to do, while feeling completely disconnected from your own life. Things that used to bring you joy just do not anymore. Food, hobbies, people you love. You are there physically but it feels like you are watching from behind glass. You might not even know when it started. It crept in slowly, and now it just feels like who you are. It is not. This flatness, this numbness, is something that can lift with the right support.

Are you functioning but barely holding it together inside?

From the outside, no one would know. You go to work. You take care of your responsibilities. You show up for other people. But inside, you are exhausted in a way that sleep does not fix. You might feel irritable, short-tempered, or hollow. You might find yourself snapping at the people closest to you and then feeling guilty about it. The gap between how you look on the outside and how you feel on the inside can be one of the loneliest parts of depression. No one sees it. And because no one sees it, it can feel like it is not real, or not serious enough to ask for help. It is real. And it is serious enough.

Do you feel guilty for struggling when your life looks fine?

This is one of the most common things we hear. You look at your life and think you have no right to feel this way. You have a job, a family, a roof over your head. Other people have it so much worse. So you keep pushing through, telling yourself it will pass, that you just need to try harder. But the low mood stays. And the guilt about the low mood adds another layer on top. Depression does not care how your life looks from the outside. It does not require a reason. And the fact that you are struggling does not mean you are ungrateful, weak, or broken. It means you are human, and you need support.

You do not have to keep waiting for things to get bad enough to reach out. If something feels off, that is enough of a reason to talk to someone. Many people find that getting support earlier makes everything easier, not harder.

You do not have to keep feeling this way.

At Soul Prism Therapy, we offer therapy for depression and low mood to help you understand what is underneath the flatness, reconnect with yourself, and start to feel like a person again. Our CRPO-registered therapists work with individuals of all backgrounds, in person in Vaughan and virtually across Ontario.

How therapy for depression works at Soul Prism

We start by simply getting to know you. Your history, your relationships, the context of your life. We do not rush to fix things or hand you a list of techniques. We believe that real change comes from understanding, and that understanding takes time and trust.

From there, we explore what might be underneath the low mood. Sometimes it is rooted in loss or life transitions. Sometimes it is tied to long-standing patterns of thinking about yourself. Sometimes it is connected to experiences from the past that have never been fully processed. Whatever the root, we work through it at a pace that feels right for you.

Over time, we build practical tools for the harder days too. Ways to regulate your mood, interrupt unhelpful thought patterns, and find small moments of connection with yourself and your life again. Most clients find that things begin to shift in ways they did not expect, often starting with the simple experience of feeling heard.

Why work with us?

All three of our therapists work with depression and low mood.

Kritika, Corrado, and Vaaraki each bring their own approach and areas of depth to this work. We know that low mood does not look the same for everyone, and we take the time to understand your specific experience before we suggest any direction. There is no one-size-fits-all approach here.

We offer therapy in your language.

We provide sessions in English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Tamil, and French. Being able to express yourself in the language that feels most natural can make a significant difference, especially when talking about something as personal as how you feel inside.

We are sensitive to the cultural dimensions of mental health.

In many families and communities, struggling with your mental health can carry a weight of shame. You may have been raised to stay strong, to not complain, or to see asking for help as a sign of weakness. We understand this. You will never be made to feel that your struggles are too small, too dramatic, or too complicated. This is a space where your whole context is welcome.

We use approaches that are grounded in evidence.

Our therapists draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, somatic approaches, and relational therapy depending on what fits best for you. We explain everything in plain language and always make sure the approach feels right before we proceed.
