Therapy for Stress and Burnout
Therapy for Burnout, Stress & Overwhelm in Vaughan & Ontario
Are You Running on Empty and Cannot Remember the Last Time You Felt Rested?
You are not lazy. You are not failing. You are burnt out, and it is a real and common experience. Therapy for stress and burnout at Soul Prism Therapy in Vaughan, Ontario can help you find your way back to yourself.
Does everything feel like too much, all the time?
You wake up tired even after a full night of sleep. Small tasks that used to feel manageable now feel overwhelming. You snap at people you love over things that would not normally bother you. There is a heaviness that follows you through the day, a sense that you are simply enduring rather than living. You keep telling yourself that things will slow down soon, that once this project ends or this busy season passes you will finally rest. But the busy season never really ends. This is burnout, and it is your body and mind telling you that something needs to change.
Have you stopped feeling good at things you used to enjoy?
Work that once felt meaningful now feels like a grind. Hobbies you used to look forward to now feel like one more obligation. You might find yourself going through the motions at your job, in your relationships, and in your own life without the energy or interest you once had. This is one of the clearest signs of burnout. It is not just physical exhaustion, it is a kind of emotional depletion that drains the colour out of things that used to matter to you. It can feel frightening, like you are losing yourself, but this is a very treatable and common response to prolonged stress.
Do you feel guilty for needing rest?
You might have grown up believing that rest is something you have to earn, or that needing a break means you are weak or not working hard enough. So you keep pushing, ignoring the signs your body is giving you, until burnout forces you to stop. Many of our clients carry this pattern from childhood or from cultural expectations around productivity and self-sacrifice. Learning to rest without guilt is often one of the most important parts of the healing process, and it is something we work on together in therapy.
Burnout does not mean something is wrong with you. It means you have been carrying more than any person should carry alone, for longer than is sustainable. There is a way back, and you do not have to figure it out by yourself.
You can rebuild your energy, and your life.
At Soul Prism Therapy, we offer therapy for stress and burnout to help you understand what has led you here, restore your sense of self, and build sustainable ways of living and working. Our CRPO-registered therapists work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, in person in Vaughan and virtually across Ontario.
How therapy for burnout works at Soul Prism
We start by understanding your specific experience of burnout. What does exhaustion look like for you? What has depleted your energy over time? Is it your work, your relationships, your responsibilities at home, or a combination of everything at once? We take the time to understand the full picture rather than treating burnout as a single generic problem.
From there, we explore the deeper patterns that often contribute to burnout. This might include difficulty setting boundaries, a tendency to over-give, perfectionism, or beliefs about self-worth that are tied to productivity. Many people find that burnout is not just about workload, it is about the relationship they have with rest, worth, and their own needs.
We also work on practical strategies for the here and now. Ways to protect your energy, set boundaries that actually hold, and build small moments of genuine rest back into your life. Over time, most clients find that their energy returns, their sense of self comes back into focus, and life starts to feel like something they are living rather than just surviving.
Why work with us?
All three of our therapists work with stress and burnout.
Kritika, Corrado, and Vaaraki each bring their own approach to this work. We know that burnout shows up differently depending on your life, your career, your relationships, and your cultural background, and we tailor our approach to fit your specific experience.
We understand the cultural weight around rest and productivity.
For many of our clients, the belief that rest has to be earned runs deep, often shaped by family expectations or cultural messages about hard work and self-sacrifice. We hold this with care and help you build a healthier relationship with rest, without judgment.
We offer therapy in your language.
We provide sessions in English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Tamil, and French. Being able to talk about exhaustion and overwhelm in the language that feels most natural to you can make the work feel more accessible and effective.
We focus on sustainable change, not quick fixes.
Burnout does not resolve with a weekend off. We work with you to build lasting shifts in how you relate to rest, boundaries, and your own needs, so the burnout does not simply return in a few months.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Regular tiredness usually improves with rest, like a good night of sleep or a relaxing weekend. Burnout does not improve with rest alone. It is a deeper state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that builds over time and often comes with a sense of detachment from work or life, reduced motivation, and a feeling that nothing you do makes a difference. If rest is not helping and the exhaustion has been building for weeks or months, it is likely burnout, and therapy can help.
-
Not necessarily. While external changes can sometimes help, burnout recovery is often more about how you relate to your work and your own needs than about the job itself. Many people recover from burnout while staying in the same role, once they build stronger boundaries, address underlying patterns like perfectionism or over-giving, and reconnect with rest. In therapy, we help you figure out what changes, internal or external, would genuinely support your recovery.
-
Very normal, and honestly a sign of exactly the pattern that leads to burnout in the first place. Many of our clients feel like there is no time to slow down, even to get support. But investing in your own recovery is not one more thing on your to-do list, it is the thing that makes everything else more sustainable. Therapy sessions are 50 minutes, and many clients find that this small weekly investment gives them back far more energy and clarity than it costs.
-
Yes. We offer virtual burnout therapy to anyone in Ontario, which many clients find genuinely helpful since it removes the additional stress of commuting to an appointment. Sessions are held on a secure, encrypted platform. If you are based in or near Vaughan, in-person sessions are also available at our office at 237 Romina Drive, Concord, Ontario.
